Project Description
After a series of Phase I and Phase 2 site assessments including boreholes, test pits, monitoring wells, chemical laboratory testing of soil and groundwater samples and report submissions to regulatory bodies, then site remediation works were carried out between Autumn 2007 and Autumn 2008. These site cleanup activities were necessary to bring the subject lands into compliance with current MOE industrial land use guidelines.
Sarafinchin Associates Ltd. coordinated the remedial works program and provided onsite geoenvironmental supervision during the remedial works as well as post remedial verification sampling and confirmatory analyses.
The remedial program comprised the excavation and removal to offsite disposal facilities of soil from areas of the site that were previously identified through Phase II environmental site assessments. A total of six soil remediation zones were identified and delineated.
All excavated soils were screened in the field prior to controlled stockpiling for further verification sampling and environmental characterization to determine the need for offsite disposal in accordance with Ontario Regulation 347. Upon the completion of the site remediation works a final Record of Site Condition (RSC) was submitted for approval.
